LITTLE WING GUY'S PROFILE
I may have little wings, but I have a big dick heart.
Hey there. I've been into game making since about 2008, but it wasn't until 2014 I was able to complete my first ever game! The game was started and finished in a single week for a contest. In one week I was able to do what I struggled with for 6 years. 6 WHOLE YEARS. HILARIOUS ISN'T IT.

Wow. Thank you so much judges, it feels great to share a victory with developers like Indra and Fomar. I’ve never won anything on this site, or had anything spotlighted or featured before, it‘s definitely given me a confidence boost in my own abilities. I needed that. I know it’s such a cliché to say I wasn’t expecting to win, but I really wasn’t. I don't know how to express how happy I feel. I’m already excited for another contest, I hope people take me a bit more seriously about teaming up for future contests, now I’ve proven myself a bit haha. Time to review some games and give the losers something to look forward to as well.
Also, I’d like to personally thank my win on Minnow and Gourd_Clae for not being able to finish Razed are the Powerful in time. Thanks guys.

What are you thinking about right now?

My great-grandmother died yesterday morning. And since my Dad got a really bad stomach bug at the worst time possible (which is right now), we can't even go to her funeral (which is tomorrow). Life sucks.
Edit: Though, at least she lived to the age of 96. Not everybody gets to live that long...
My Granddad passed away about 2 months ago, and I could think of nothing worse than going to my first funeral. Only a short time has gone by, but going to the funeral really helped in the long run. I really hope you can go, even without your father. You should also be able to say your goodbye privately before the funeral too, at least I was able to, but there was two weeks between the death of my Granddad and his funeral, not two days.
It seems impossible right now, but all the small things you'll learn to appreciate in time, as I am. That fact that she lived to that age and got to see great-grand children is something so special in itself.

I'm going for this badge. Sated took down his game though, but I guess he's not really interested in feedback!
I'd also love to be a judge on a future event(s). I've been a member of this community for a very long time, but haven't given much back to it yet apart from the odd review. Please think of me if ever you need an extra judge.

Also, is there a place to volunteer for things like being a judge or other stuff? I may be jumping the gun since I'm still a newbie here and I'm not sure what qualifications I'd need to fulfill for such a position, but if you all need judges for future events or anything, I'd be happy to volunteer.

Eternal – Return of the Void
Okay, before you start reading, understand that this comment is all about the negative stuff I found, things I think need improving. Anything I didn’t mention means I liked it. I really liked the comedy, way more than I thought I would. I always wanted to speak with every NPC and loved how interactive Nero himself was with them. Don’t take any of this to heart please, I can be a dick with feedback at times. I’m not putting my thoughts into a review, as it already has one, so here is something little to tide you over. AFTER ALL I PROMISED YOU FEEDBACK IN 2012.
- Treasure chests? Are there any in this game at all? Some areas are very open, and asking you to have a look around, but frankly I stopped looking after a little while as it wasn’t worth it. Say what you will about random encounters vs. touch encounters it’s completely subjective BUT it does tend to make me personally, less likely to explore. Pair that with non-existence treasure and all I’m doing is trying to get from point A to B as fast as possible.
-Okay so I left a comment ages ago about the battle music but I didn’t explain myself, sorry about that. I strongly dislike the battle music, and it’s not just about personal taste either. Firstly, it’s like I’m watching an anime opening, but I’m only battling basic forest bees. When I finish a battle and begin a new one, I have listen to the exact same 30-60 seconds again and again. Could you imagine if your iPod only let you play the first 60 seconds of a song, how annoying would that be? Also, since most of the music is MIDI format it’s kind of weird to jump into an actual MP3 with some Japanese guy howling into a microphone. I understand you must like that song and it’s your game, that’s cool, but I’m not about to put Lady Gaga in my game just because I like a song by her.
- Experience and Gold drops from normal enemies needs to be increased. About 10 or 15 points on every enemy should do it. It felt like too much of a slog just to reach level 2, and when you reach the inn after the forest I felt poor as dirt, not enough money to get half the items I needed. To balance it, try lowering the experience from the bosses. Rewarding players routinely with levels instead of power levelling with a boss fight seems like such a better way to go. Thank the lord for nectar drops!
- Overall the game is very rough around the edges, spelling and grammar mistakes, text cut offs and an absolute massive clash of resources pulled from every corner of the universe. Also, don’t forget that in order for a comedy game to thrive, the game play and the comedy element have to work in tandem. So far, it’s working for you beautifully, just always remember it. For example, what does Can Food do? The description went full comedy, but the player needs to know what they’re buying. Little things can go a mile.

Video game tunes that get stuck in your head often?

And I thought Persona had some strange battle music. It’s amazing that this is probably the only battle theme that I can even recall from all of Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time. *sigh* One of these days, I gotta play this game again, just for the nostalgia.
I absolutely love that the first time you hear this song play is the boss battle immediately after Fayt's father is killed. It's supposed to be a tense emotional battle for revenge, but has this hilariously funky beat playing.
Here's mine, sorry it's not an RPG =(

I'm not fussed about hearing the judges thoughts on every single entry or even my own one. The only thing I would really want to know is why you chose the winning game, what is was that make it stand out.
Also, if there was runner up, how did they miss out on the top spot?

Swan Song
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Reading any kind of feedback makes my day. Serious thanks for playing it <3
Thanks again.
Another thing that did upset me (more for realz this time =P) was that Alex was almost useless. Not because I like him and wanted him to be the hero of the game, but because he was dead weight most of the time; As was Zack when only Falron could dispose of ghost enemies: Their turns go to waste when they don't have to support. There should be alternatives to deal at least minimum damage.I always wanted to toy with the idea of a party member being unable to do damage, and thought this small game was the perfect chance. Instead of Alex's sword just being a joke, I extended into the game play as well. Even if I do go back to the game sometime, I will still keep Alex unable to deal damage, but enchance his support abilites. I can't and won't blame everything on being rushed, but it did affect my decision making. I agree with you 100% on everything you said though. I really enjoyed making the game, but if another contest comes along, I would have to have to be in a team of some sort just for my stress levels haha.
A swan song is a term for "a final act/action"Yeah, thanks NewBlack. I chose it because Alex and Zack want to end their hero career with a bang, but as you complete the game, that doesn't exactly happen. Swan Song is kind of a play on words.
Thanks again.

To be honest there isn't anything that hints at a possible relationship, that's what shipping's all about, isn't it? My other pairing is Captain American x Santa Claus. I don't care what anyone says, they really love each other!
Oh, don't get me wrong, it wasn't overly complex, it just didn't build up to itself. Everything you have in the first battle, is exactly what you have in the final boss. So you have all these skills at once, and you're like a kid in a sweet shop. I don't think you did anything wrong, I'm just saying I would have approached it differently; in my own way. I think I'm too used to playing JRPGs where they take 15 hours to give you the full battle system. Anyway, that's why I said it might be better suited to a longer game.

Just completed this, I now ship Helen x Alex (Henlex) forever, that ending man, so cruel. I didn’t have any issues with the dialogue or story, I enjoyed how it was funny and light, but also had moments of real heart towards the end too. Alex, and especially Helen are good characters. I personally didn’t like how some textboxes closed on there own due to characters interrupting each other. I think that works best when you have voice acting or something, but as it was just text, it was a bit jarring at times. The could be a personal gripe though.
The battle system is really unique, liked the idea a lot. It’s made good use of, as the best way to win is by amplifying the skill of the current Mana field, rather than the field effects just being thrown of top of a default battle system. It’s surprising deep and I definitely see it working in a longer game, but I felt like there was quite a lot to take it right at the start. The Mana fields + Helen and Alex play differently from each other + already loads of skills at level one for both characters, some of which I never made use of.
I also liked that not all enemies are set move to hero, or move randomly. Some of them follow a set path and you have to dodge them, and the forest complements that by being spacious, but not big and devoid of detail. The cave was a lot more cramped, made it harder to avoid enemies, but it wasn’t an annoyance. I did probably avoid more than I fought haha. This may have made me under levelled as I did think it was difficult, as I had some unexpected deaths. Loads of chances to buy items though, so it’s more a case of me not paying attention probably. Overall a good entry, more pros than cons and being able to skip the cave puzzle was a nice touch! I’d definitely like to play Gotta Clean Up The World now!
Two bugs I found:
-You can abuse Alex’s skill outside of battle to restore his MP, and then fully heal the party before a battle.
- The ending cutscene plays on loop, it never goes back to the title screen.
